Students of Westfield Community School have been enjoying a high standard of catering this term in “Hubble’s”, their brand new restaurant facility.  Over the summer holiday Steve Webber, the school’s Site Manager, oversaw the rebuilding of a former hall and stage area to become a brand new, high quality catering facility.  Students can now choose from a wide range of meals and snacks, ranging from roast dinners to baked potatoes, and pasta dishes to fresh salads, with the curry special every Thursday proving to be a big hit.

Many students also extend their learning by using the newly installed wireless network on their laptops whilst enjoying a tea, coffee or hot chocolate.  15 students were responsible for the creation and installation of a huge feature piece of artwork, inspired by the four scientists the school organises its house system around, namely Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Rosalind Franklin and Galileo.

The name “Hubble’s” was chosen by students in a poll organised by the School Council.  Principal Chris Hunt said, “We are committed to providing high quality facilities for our students.  Other facilities developed over the summer include a completely refurbished school hall, two high quality food technology rooms, an ICT studio for media work, a brand new 30 station ICT suite developed in conjunction with AgustaWestland, completely refurbished sportshall changing rooms, and an outdoor science classroom.  We will be developing further facilities later this year.”
