The House System

As well as being members of a tutor group, students are also part of our House System. We have four Houses, each named after famous Scientists – Darwin, Einstein, Franklin and Galileo – as befits our Specialist Science status.

The system provides the students with the opportunity to get involved in a range of activities and competitions and promotes teamwork across all years.

Darwin: Head of House – Julie Kenny

Named after Charles Darwin, who laid the foundations of the theory of evolution and transformed the way we think about the natural world.

Einstein: Head of House – Carrie Hartley

Named after Albert Einstein, renowned for his Theory of Relativity and his equation E=mc²    

Franklin: Head of House – Virginia Ryan

Named after Rosalind Franklin, a pioneering molecular biologist, responsible for much of the research and discovery work that led to the understanding of the structure of DNA.

Galileo: Head of House – Steve Roney

Named after Galileo, the hugely influential Italian astronomer, physicist and philosopher.
