On the 17th June 10 year 7 Gifted and Talented students from
At the Chinese Festival workshop they learned about 3 major festivals such as the Moon Festival ( Zhong quí jié) when families gather together to watch the moon and have a barbeque. The students also turned their hands to some chinese calligraphy. They learned to hold the brush (mao bi) properly, worked out some chinese characters and painted chinese calligraphy on lucky red paper whilst listening to chinese music in the background.
At the Cooking workshop they made “Tang yuan” a traditional chinese desert with rice flour. The students were also given the opportunity to learn some basic mandarin phrases with games and a song which proved popular. In the afternoon they made a presentation about what they had learned to the people from
Zái jián!
