Over 80 Year 7 and 8 students took part in this year’s Poetry Please Final, along with a select group of students-previous winners- from Year 9. The range of poems was as broad as ever, with everything from ‘Hardcore Humpty Dumpty’ to excerpts from’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, by William Shakespeare. The atmosphere was wonderful-and the judges were hard-pressed to make their final decisions. A special ‘celebration ‘ assembly, featuring prize-giving, certificates and performances of some of the winning poems will take place before the end of term. Lots of hard work, but well worth it!
