About us Chris Hunt, Principal – A personal message The change from primary to secondary is a big step to take. Our students want good teachers, exciting opportunities, challenges and successes. At Westfield, we want to ensure that all our students are happy, supported and can fulfil their potential. We are also determined to be at the heart of the community, so that we can provide a really outstanding all-round education for young people in Yeovil and the surrounding villages. This has been a very special year, with exam results the best in our history and fantastic student achievements across all areas of the curriculum. Westfield was one of the country’s first Science Specialist Colleges and we take this commitment very seriously – with more than 80% of our students achieving A*-C grades in Science subjects. Our students were district champions at numerous individual and team sporting events and our dance, drama and music performances were enjoyed by large audiences from the local community. Westfield also leads the way in the South Somerset Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme – and hosted this years’ regional Award Ceremony. We continue to invest in new technology and facilities and there are many exciting plans in place for the coming academic year. Look out for our new gym area and a sports field on the site of the old Westfield First School. We are building on the success of the last few years and are doing everything we can to ensure that all our students are happy, do well and succeed at the highest possible level.
